- Just thought I'd let everybody know my cheap way of networking so you can
- copy if you want.
-
- Buy a bridgeboard (I have 8088 XT Bridgeboard), buy a cheap PC net card
- (lots cheaper than amiga ones)... the one I use was recovered from a skip,
- an 8-bit NE1000 card.
-
- Set the XT up with tcpip allowing it to use FTP and TELNET. Most of the
- networking software (lsl, NE1000.COM) can be obtained from the net itself.
-
- Then get a program off of the aminet called PCDisk which allows the amiga to
- read the XT's bridgeboard file as an Amigados device (Crossdos or KS2.1/3.1/3.0
- required).
-
- Hey presto, download your files using FTP on the XT (I get 28K per sec on my
- XT), then mount the XT's partition on the amiga and just copy the data off.
- The only limitation with downloading is MSDOS filenames have to be used.
